Munich: Boutique at Sendlinger Tor in flames – high property damage – Munich

A fire broke out in a residential and commercial building on Lindwurmstraße at Sendlinger Tor on Monday evening. Around 10 p.m., a passer-by reported a fire in the six-story building. What appeared to have caught fire was an evening dress shop on the first floor.

When firefighters arrived, the windows on the first and second floors were shattered by the heat. The flames threatened to spread to the floors above. The fire brigade fought the fire on the ground floor and prevented the fire from spreading to the upper floors.

Five residents from the upper floors were escorted outside by the fire brigade. The flames themselves were under control within minutes. After the extinguishing work, all smoky rooms were ventilated with high-performance fans and the shattered window panes were secured. Fire investigators are now trying to determine the cause of the fire. There was material damage of several 100,000 euros. 65 professional and volunteer firefighters were deployed.
