They had visions, they were young, but then narrow-mindedness caught up with them. Frontman Rüdiger Sinn sings about this in a rough voice in the first verse of the debut song “Come to stay”. He is accompanied on the guitar by his friend and colleague Zlatko Pasalic. The two of them have been playing as a well-known Munich band on the Bavarian stages for a long time.
The first song of their new band color filter is about growing up, about “anchoring in society”, says lead singer Rüdiger. A topic that everyone can identify with. But it’s not just about boredom and philistinism. In the chorus, when Florian Wuschek joins in on the bass and Andi Papelitzky on the drums, it becomes clear that getting older is just a matter of attitude.
The first single “Come to stay” was released in July of this year and immediately rose to the top of the Spotify release charts and the radio rotation of Pulse a. “It developed like an avalanche,” says Zlatko. They could have learned a lot from the mistakes of their first band together, which contributed to the good start of Farbfilter.
The musicians are not unknown faces in the Munich music scene. Zlatko and Rüdiger have been playing in the band for ten years Stray Colors. In 2019 they had their greatest success to date with the song “Whiskey Sour”, but then Corona intervened. During the difficult pandemic period, the idea for a new project developed – this time in German. “We put so much heart and soul into it, it was fun for everyone,” says the singer. This is how the new band Farbfilter emerged from the unique project work.
When it comes to style, the name says it all: “We want to let different color filters affect the basic formation, and that’s how different sounds always come out,” explains Rüdiger. “In addition, everyone brings their own sound and filter,” adds Zlatko. Rüdiger himself comes from the alternative direction, but Andi Papelitzkay brings influences from metal, for example. So there should be harder and rock songs or songs with a grunge influence in the future. “We’re trying to find our own space,” says Rüdiger, without having to correspond to a classic rock or indie band.
Color Filter has a lot planned for the near future. The next songs are already in the starting blocks, her second song Erling Haaland will be released on August 18th. The song is probably more about love than football. Your dream? Soon to be touring throughout Germany, “just get around a bit and try different directions,” says Rüdiger.
