Munich: awning for the Ackermann arch – Munich

In wintry temperatures, a bit of warm sun on your face is a real blessing. Politicians, however, have to think ahead – and in summer, places without shade, such as the town square in Schwabing’s new-build district at the Ackermannbogen, quickly mutate into glowing furnaces. Which is why the local citizens’ representatives are requesting temporary sun sails for the play and paddling zone on the square around the fountain for the hot days. The building department has planted trees in the heart of the new settlement – but the plants are still too young to make a significant contribution to cooling.
