The federal police arrested a Serbian national at Munich Airport on Tuesday. The man, wanted across Europe, is suspected of having smuggled people into the country.
The 35-year-old wanted to enter Kosovo on flight DE 169 from Pristina. But the Hungarian authorities have issued a European arrest warrant against the Serb: The man is said to have smuggled eight Syrians into the European Union via the so-called Balkan route in 2021.
After his arrest, he was brought before the investigating judge at the Landshut district court and then taken to the local correctional facility. The Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office is now responsible for the further proceedings.
