At the end of October, depressing images went around the world showing conductor Lahav Shani playing Beethoven with his Israel Philharmonic in the Charles Bronfman Auditorium in Tel Aviv. There was no audience, just photos of the Hamas-abducted hostages taped to the seats. A difficult task for the maestro, who will hopefully make his classical debut at Odeonsplatz in better times, in the summer of 2024, with the Munich Philharmonic, which he will take over from the 2026/27 season.
The soloist in the concert on July 13th is star violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, who will also be appearing at the classical music event for the first time. The program will be announced later. Music fans can already secure tickets now; advance sales for the concerts in Munich’s most beautiful open-air concert hall start on Saturday, November 25th.

The first concert on Friday, July 12th on Odeonsplatz will be performed by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra with its chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle at the podium. The names of the soloists give an idea of where the musical journey is going this evening; two great Wagner voices have been announced: Anja Kampe and Michael Volle offer a selection from “Walküre”. The Symphony No. 2 in D major by Johannes Brahms will also be heard.
