Munich achieves “the most important novel debut of the book season” – Munich

His literary debut was published last year and has now won an award: As was recently announced, the Munich author, filmmaker and musician Konstantin Ferstl will be awarded the Fulda 2024 Literature Prize. The still relatively new prize is endowed with 10,000 euros. It has been awarded annually since 2019 and honors “the most important novel debut of the book season”.

Ferstl’s book is called “The Blue Border”, a powerful and excessive travel and family epic. The jury found the following words for this: “Konstantin Ferstl has written a novel that, with its unbridled joy in telling stories, its anarchic humor and the abundance of its ideas, takes up the tradition of the baroque picaresque novel and transforms it into a contemporary form.” “The Blue Border” is at the same time a virtuoso ride through German history of the 20th century, a family and adventure novel that shows how the private becomes political and politics determines the private. “Last but not least, it is also a book about the wonders and depths of love, tender and wistful, but above all a great reading pleasure from the first to the last page.”

The award ceremony will take place on June 19th in the Fulda City Palace. The laudation will be given by jury member Christoph Schröder.
