Because a driver mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals in her car, a 31-year-old pedestrian is now seriously injured in hospital. The 82-year-old woman was driving her Smart on Ignaz-Perner-Straße in Neuhausen on Thursday around 5:15 p.m. At the intersection with Volpinistrasse she wanted to turn onto it, but for reasons that are still unclear, she hit the accelerator instead of the brake and therefore accelerated.
She drove onto the sidewalk, hit a fence and ultimately collided with the pedestrian, who came under the car. Passers-by lifted the Smart and pulled the injured person out. Among other things, she suffered a fractured pelvis and was taken to the hospital. The driver was uninjured and the car sustained damage amounting to several thousand euros.
