Munich: 20-year-old stabbed after a dispute over a game console – arrest and detention – Munich

An argument at a New Year’s Eve party in Freiham got so bad that a 20-year-old from Munich was in danger of losing his life. The police arrested a suspect, a 22-year-old from Munich, in an apartment not far from the crime scene.

As the police report, the two men were celebrating New Year’s Eve there with others. Apparently a dispute broke out between the young men in the morning over the accessories of a games console, which spilled outside onto the sidewalk. How exactly the crime occurred is still being determined.

The police are currently assuming that the 22-year-old man allegedly injured the 20-year-old several times with a kitchen knife on the sidewalk around 8:45 a.m. The police seized the murder weapon with a 15 centimeter long blade. The victim was lying on the ground with multiple cuts and stab wounds when officers reached the scene. The young man from Munich had to undergo emergency surgery in a hospital. His condition is still considered “extremely critical,” according to police.

Test results for alcohol or other drugs are not yet available, according to a police spokesman. However, the young men were probably “not entirely clear in their thoughts and actions.” Both people involved are known to the police for minor crimes. According to police, after the crime, the suspect was found in the apartment, where he probably wanted to go to sleep. However, he was not the host. The other party guests were cooperative, said the police spokesman.

The Munich I public prosecutor’s office applied for an arrest warrant for attempted murder against the 22-year-old. The investigating judge, before whom he was brought before on Tuesday, granted the request. The suspect was then transferred to the correctional facility and is now in custody there.
