Police arrested a 40-year-old suspected rapist on Wednesday shortly after the crime. Last Wednesday around noon he approached a 17-year-old woman in the main train station and first went with her to the Old Botanical Garden. From there he led her to a nearby underground car park – under the pretext of wanting to consume drugs with her there.
In the garage, the man became intrusive and wanted sexual intercourse, but the woman refused. He then overpowered her and raped her. After the crime, the woman was able to leave the garage unhindered.
On Luitpoldstrasse she spoke to passers-by and described what had just happened to her. The passers-by called the police. They found the perpetrator in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene and arrested him. An arrest warrant was issued against him.
