At first glance, inheriting a house or property has little to do with your own efforts. Is that fair? In the new episode of DISKUTHEK, multi-millionaire Antonis Schwarz (taxmenow) argues with CDU politician Benjamin Welling about whether the rich should pay more and whether a basic inheritance could combat wealth inequality.

Do you have something, you are something – but when it comes to wealth, most people in Germany have almost nothing. The richest 10 percent own around 70 percent of private net wealth. This is also due to the fact that only a few Germans inherit a lot. Is inheritance fair? These guests discuss this with our moderator Melanie Stein:

Antonis Black is a multimillionaire and heir, co-founder of taxmenow and sustainable investor.

Benjamin Welling is the former state chairman of the Junge Union Hamburg and a trained insurance specialist. He does not expect an inheritance.

This is the seventh stern DISKUTHEK that we are producing together with the Hamburg Körber Foundation – as DISKUTHEK@KörberForum. This program was recorded in front of an audience in the foundation’s forum in Hamburg’s warehouse district.
