It is a prestigious club whose pools have seen great names in French swimming. The Mulhouse Olympic Swimming (MON) was indicted for “attempted fraud”. The Haut-Rhin club is “placed under the status of assisted witness with regard to facts of fraud dating back to 2014-2016”, declared Monday the prosecutor of the Republic of Mulhouse, Edwige Roux-Morizot.
As part of the same judicial investigation, Charles Laurent Horter, founder and president of the club until 2017, was placed under the status of assisted witness for the same facts. “The MON disputes the existence of a criminal offense, and will do everything to prove its good faith”, for its part declared the current president of the club, Franck Horter, the son of Charles Laurent Horter, by the intermediary of his lawyer, Me Pierre Schultz.

The judicial information had been opened in 2018 after the complaint, with constitution of civil party, of the parents of a young girl trained in the MON of 2014 and 2016. The first complaint of the couple had been the subject of a classification without follow-up. in 2017. After a confrontation, “the investigating judge awaits possible requests for acts from the parties”, underlined the prosecutor, who indicates that the judicial investigation could be closed “by the end of the year 2021 ”.
Training club of Roxana Maracineanu, former world swimming champion (1998) and current Minister for Sports, MON, which also welcomed Olympic champions Laure Manaudou and Amaury Leveaux to its pools, is also the target of a preliminary investigation. Opened in January 2020, it is “still in progress, it concerns other facts, more important, more extensive”, underlined Edwige Roux-Morizot. “This is a fairly complex economic and financial survey, which concerns the activities from a general point of view of the MON. We are not at all at the end of the investigation, ”she added. Within the framework of this investigation, the investigations are carried out by the financial section of the judicial police of Mulhouse, under the direction of the prosecution.
