The MTV Movie & TV Awards will be presented in Los Angeles on May 8th. The nominations are now in.
Who will win the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards to be held May 8th at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica? That’s in the hands of the fans, who can vote for their favorites on the website vote.mtv.com until April 18th. MTV announced the nominated stars, films and shows on Wednesday.
Austin Butler (31) was considered for the first time for his performance in the “Elvis” film. “Don’t Worry Darling” star Florence Pugh (27) can also hope for the MTV trophy for the first time. Selena Gomez (30) is nominated for both her role in the series “Only Murders in the Building” and for the music documentary “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me”. Paul Rudd (54) competes in the “Best Hero” category in “Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania” against Tom Cruise (60), among others. His film “Top Gun: Maverick” is one of the top nominees in six categories, along with the series “Stranger Things” and “The Last of Us”.
“Best Film” and “Best Show”
The following are in the running for “Best Film”: “Avatar: The Way of Water”, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, “Elvis”, “Nope”, “Scream VI”, “Smile” and “Top Gun: Maverick”. The nominees for “Best Show” are: “Stranger Things”, “The Last of Us”, “The White Lotus”, “Wednesday”, “Wolf Pack”, “Yellowstone” and “Yellowjackets”.
Drew Barrymore leads through the evening
The evening will be broadcast in more than 170 countries. Drew Barrymore (48) moderates the show. She has already won an MTV award three times. Most recently, she was honored in 2020 together with comedian Adam Sandler (56) as “Dynamic Duo” in the category “MTV Awards: Greatest of All Time”. This time she has another chance at an award: she is nominated for hosting her show “The Drew Barrymore Show”.
