MP Mathilde Panot brandishes a vial of bedbugs in the Assembly

Proof by example. Tuesday, during a question session with the government, Mathilde Panot (LFI) questioned Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne about bedbugs. To clearly support her point, the president of the rebellious group in the Assembly brandished a bottle containing several pests, as noted in particular Le Figaro.

“A wave of panic is gripping the country, bedbugs are proliferating in all everyday places. They are causing millions of our infested citizens to experience an ordeal. They make them lose sleep, cause paranoia and isolate them socially,” insisted the Val-de-Marne MP.

“I alerted, you laughed in my face”

“In 2017, there were 200,000 infested places. I alerted you, you laughed in my face, you did nothing. In 2019, there were 540,000 infested sites. We demonstrated, petitioned, disinected housing, tabled a resolution to demand an emergency plan, you laughed in my face, you did nothing,” lamented the rebellious party executive, before exhibiting the vial and ask, ironically: “Do we have to wait until Matignon is infected for you to finally react? »

After estimating that the bedbug issue should not cause divisions, the Prime Minister assured of the government’s “collective determination” to act. “A meeting with all the ministries concerned will be held in the coming days,” said Élisabeth Borne, before recalling that the presidential majority has initiated work to find long-term answers on detection, infestation and the support for those affected.
