MP Aurélien Taché fined 5,000 euros for insulting police officers

“You are shitheads”. It’s according to the weekly Point what would have launched, in February 2022, the ecologist deputy of Val-d’Oise Aurelien Tache to the police officers of the anti-crime brigade who were intervening in an attack of which he had just been the victim in a bar in Niort, his hometown.

This outburst led to the parliamentarian being sentenced to a fine of 5,000 euros on Wednesday, his lawyer Me Jade Dousselin confirmed on Thursday. He will also have to pay 250 to 500 euros to the police who have joined as civil parties.

This conviction was pronounced following a “guilty plea” procedure. He “assumed his responsibilities by appearing before his judges and acknowledging the facts for which they were being prosecuted”, underlines the lawyer. “This sentence is fair and proportionate and we are satisfied with it,” she adds.

“A state of bewilderment”

Jade Dousselin also affirms that during the attack, which dates back to the night of February 8 to 9, Aurélien Taché had received “many blows, particularly to the head and face” leaving him “in a state of bewilderment linked to the physical shock and psychological he had just suffered.

Aurélien Taché, a former socialist, was elected deputy in 2017 under the LREM label before resigning from Emmanuel Macron’s party three years later. Re-elected in June under the Nupes label, he sits with the environmental group. He is president of a small party, the New Democrats.
