A mother dolphin carries her dead calf on her back.

Lisbon-based environmental influencer Margarita Samsonova films the rare scene of the mourning animal.

But the behavior of the dolphin is not unusual.

Dolphins are highly intelligent animals and have been known to stay by your side for a while after the death of a young one.

Dolphins aren’t the only sea creatures to mourn the loss of their offspring.

A comparable behavior has been observed in orcas, for example.
