Dortmund – Fire drama about the German Elvis!
Rock’n’Roll legend Ted Herold (79) and his wife Manuela (48) died in a fire in their rented apartment in Dortmund.
The fire broke out on Saturday at around 6.15 p.m. in the living room on the first floor. According to BILD information, Manuela was found dead there. The singer’s body was in the hallway. He is said to have died of smoke inhalation.
The couple had been married since 2002. Manuela often went to his concerts as a fan. After the wedding they both lived in his house in Peine (Lower Saxony). They sold this about ten years ago and moved to Dortmund, one floor above his in-laws.
Music legend lived humbly
Neighbors report that Herold and his wife lived in seclusion. “I last saw Ted on Thursday. So he went to the waste paper container. He looked thin and bad. ”
Financially, too, the singer, who started his career in 1958 with two Elvis cover versions, is said to have not gone well in the end. A neighbor: “In 2020 he sold his expensive Mercedes and has not had a car of his own since then. Ted used to drive his mother-in-law’s small car from time to time. “
