Comic artist and author George Pérez has died at the age of 67. This was confirmed by a family friend. As a result, Pérez died on Friday at his home in Sanford, Florida, of complications from cancer.

Pérez emancipated “Wonder Woman”, created Amazons and Titans. With his expressive drawings, he brought together superheroes for the biggest names in US comics: The Puerto Rican immigrant from the Bronx began his comics career as an assistant to artist Rich Buckler, creator of the character Deathlok.

At Marvel, Pérez drew many of the kung fu comics that were popular at the time in the 1970s. In the 1980s, he created the New Teen Titans for DC Comics with writer Marv Wolfman.

Pérez drew extremely detailed

One of his greatest achievements in the heroic universe is that he recreated “Wonder Woman”: From 1987 Pérez took over the DC series, first as a draftsman and later as an author. He saw the heroine as less sexist: although she remained attractive, she also became more athletic.

Pérez’s drawing style was extremely detailed. His characters had individual facial expressions and character traits. He had health problems for a long time. At the end of last year, the superhero creator announced on Facebook that he had pancreatic cancer. DC Comics creative director Jim Lee tweeted: “We’ve lost one of our greatest.”
