Mountain rescue rescues a soldier from Hochstaufen-Jagersteig – Bavaria

A Bundeswehr soldier collapsed unconscious on a mountain march on Tuesday and was taken from the Hochstaufen-Jagersteig by the mountain rescue service and a rescue helicopter. According to the Bundeswehr, the 23-year-old was on duty and in training. As the Bavarian Red Cross announced, he collapsed around 100 meters below the Reichenhaller house at noon and needed emergency medical help.

Because of the fog, the “Christoph 14” helicopter flew the emergency doctor and six mountain rescuers to a place above the Reichenhaller house, from where they “descended to the patient, cared for him and, secured with a rope in the air rescue bag, brought a good 15 meters downhill to a better pick-up point”.

The pilot had flown to the spot in a gap in the clouds. The paramedic standing on the skid then picked up the emergency doctor and the patient with the winch. The 23-year-old was flown to the district clinic in Bad Reichenhall, according to the Bundeswehr his condition is stable.
