A 25-year-old holidaymaker from Cologne fell 100 meters from a hiking trail in the Bavarian town of Krün in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district. Any help came too late for them on Friday afternoon, the police said.
The vacationer was in the area of the upper Soiernhaus together with her companion of the same age on the way up to a mountain hut. They got into steep terrain with lots of rocks. According to initial investigations, the 25-year-old slipped on wet grass and then fell 100 meters. The young woman died instantly, police said.
Because of the steep terrain, the attendant could not dismount herself and instead made an emergency call. The emergency doctor of the rescue helicopter could only determine the death of the vacationer. The companion was flown into the valley and looked after by the mountain rescue service’s crisis intervention team. The police have started further investigations.
Accident at the Brecherspitz – French woman in mortal danger

According to the information, the 25-year-old was on a hiking tour between Freudenreichkapelle and the Ankelalm with a 17-strong international hiking group from Munich. No other people were injured, police said.
