Moulin Rouge: Mill wing of the Parisian landmark collapsed – Panorama

The mill wings of the Moulin Rouge collapsed on Thursday night. It is not yet clear how the accident occurred at the well-known Paris landmark. According to the fire department, no one was injured in the incident. There is no longer any risk of collapse.

Pictures on social media show the mill wings lying whole on the ground in front of the building and some of them bent. The crash apparently also caused damage to the building’s facade. According to consistent media reports, the accident happened around two a.m. on Thursday night, after the Moulin Rouge had closed. Accordingly, the cabaret’s technical management had checked the mechanism of the mill blades once a week and had recently found no defects. It is the first emergency at the Moulin Rouge since a fire in 1915, after which the cabaret was closed for nine years, reported the TV station BFMTV.

The Moulin Rouge, which celebrates its 135th anniversary in October, is the oldest cabaret in Paris and one of the city’s landmarks. The days when it symbolized frivolous Paris are long gone. The city’s oldest revue theater now attracts tourists from all over the world with its dance shows and is one of the most visited attractions in Paris.
