Motorboat accident in Lake Starnberg: dead swimmer found – Munich

The 32-year-old from Munich, who was run over by a motorboat in Lake Starnberg on Sunday, was found dead. In the course of an intensive search lasting several days, a lifeless body was located at a depth of around 25 meters and was recovered on Wednesday afternoon by divers from a special company in cooperation with the water rescue service and the Starnberg water police, said the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria-North. The person found is undoubtedly the missing person.

The Munich II public prosecutor ordered the autopsy of the body. The investigations by the Fürstenfeldbruck criminal police into the cause of the accident, which were started on Sunday, are ongoing.

The driver of the motor boat had overlooked the man from Munich around 2.45 p.m. in the water on Sunday and ran over him about 300 meters from the bank near Kempfenhausen. A large-scale search operation was unsuccessful on Sunday and Monday. The 32-year-old was traveling with a group in a rubber dinghy and was the only one who went into the water for a planned lake crossing when the accident happened.

Around 60 emergency services were involved in the rescue attempt on Sunday alone, including eight divers. The surrounding rescue organizations tried to locate the man with a helicopter, an underwater drone, sniffer dogs and a sonar boat, among other things – but initially in vain.
