When she was young, Lin had a dream: she wanted to live in a socialist country. As a child she survived the Holocaust, now everything is supposed to get better. Their dream had a name: “German Democratic Republic.” After all, Karl Marx wrote that a socialist state cannot be anti-Semitic. But that was all a long time ago.
