Renana Gomeh is the mother of 12-year-old Yagil Jacob and his 16-year-old brother Or. In the early morning of October 7th, Hamas terrorists broke into their home on Kibbutz Nir Oz. With an emotional cartoon she asks for the release of her children and the other hostages. Disaster, a cartoon about the attack by Hamas terrorists on Kibbutz Nir Oz, is attracting a lot of international attention. In the animated film by animator Yoni Goodman, Renana tells her sons’ story in her own words. With the film, the Israeli woman wants to draw attention to the suffering of her children and the other hostages who are still in the hands of the kidnappers. Renana was not at home at the time terrorists stormed Kibbutz Nir Oz, murdering or kidnapping many people, including children. According to official Israeli figures, Hamas terrorists took 239 hostages, including 30 children and teenagers. Working on the animated film took 10 days. Yoni Goodman’s team worked on a voluntary basis. They hope that their film will help ensure that the hostages are released and that the fighting finally ends. Her wish is that everyone involved finds a way to live together in peace.
