Most influential console of its time: Xbox 360 is celebrating its comeback

Seven years ago, Microsoft stopped producing the Xbox 360 – but “brand new” Xbox 360 consoles will soon be on shelves in the USA. However, these are not real Microsoft consoles.

1,342 pieces of console love

But collectors’ hearts should still jump for joy: While the Nintendo Entertainment System with console and television ended up at Lego, you can get the Xbox 360 from Mega to build using clamping building blocks.

Block builder manufacturer Mega, in cooperation with Microsoft, has presented a 3:4 scale replica of the Xbox 360, which will be available exclusively from October 8th US retailer Target available will be. The 1,342-piece set naturally includes the console, an Xbox 360 controller and Halo 3.

What makes the whole thing interesting is the inner workings. There is, among other things, a working indicator light and a drive. According to the description of the set, the console can be opened and the floppy drive can be used with the included Halo 3 disk. At It’s called The Verge, that Mega even mimicked the packaging perfectly: “Even the box hits all the right nostalgia buttons, almost perfectly recreating the look of a 360 box, right down to those frustrating side creases.” There is also a replica of a 360 Ethernet connection.

Mega writes the following about the console building set: “Inspired by the most influential game console of its time, this collector’s kit celebrates the legacy of the Xbox 360. With the illuminated console and controller, which can be completely recreated, you can get back in. The console can be open to reveal a floppy drive (and other Easter eggs). Insert the Halo 3 disk to activate the motherboard. Adult builders beware: completing this set unlocks the ultimate achievement.”

$150 for Mega Xbox

The set will be released on October 8th for $150. But it is questionable whether you can secure a set so easily. The pre-order has already closed again and the set is already considered sold out.

Mega also sells its products in Germany (including on Amazon). The Xbox set probably won’t make it there though, as it has an exclusive deal with Target.
