More than a dozen injured on the Bavarian autobahns – Bavaria

After the hailstorm, there were several accidents on Autobahn 9 in the Nürnberger Land district between the Hormersdorf and Schnaittach junctions. But there was also a crash on the A 8. Over a dozen people were injured. Because of the hail, a driver parked his car on the hard shoulder of the A9 on Saturday evening, after which a towing service vehicle pulled up behind him. When the 23-year-old driver got out, another car hit him, the police reported on Sunday. The man was thrown several meters through the air and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was successfully resuscitated on the spot and taken to a hospital by rescue helicopter.

Only a short time later, another accident involving five vehicles occurred – this time in the opposite lane. Several vehicles had suddenly braked because of the weather, which a man driving behind noticed too late and drove up, it was said. Three other vehicles then crashed into the cars. Four people were slightly injured. Almost at the same time, in almost the same place, there was another rear-end collision: The impact caused the two cars involved to skid. According to the information, one of the vehicles in the right lane crashed into another car. The three drivers were injured and taken to hospitals.

The A 9 was closed in both directions for several hours in the evening and was only released again at night. About 250 kilometers further on the A 8 near Anger (Berchtesgadener Land district), five people were injured in a rear-end collision on Saturday night. Among them was a one and a half year old child, as the Bavarian Red Cross announced on Saturday. Five of the seven passengers were taken to hospitals. Back in Nürnberger Land: on the A3 near Burgthann, officials wanted to check a van with their “uniformed service vehicle” on Saturday morning. The 39-year-old stopped, but then locked the car and ran away on foot, the police reported on Sunday. A helicopter found the drunk man near the highway underpass.
