11:23 a.m .: The return of the Morozov collection disturbed?
About 200 works of art (paintings by Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet but also Russian artists such as Korovin and Malevitch) collected by the Morozov brothers, industrialists of the early 20th century, are currently exhibited at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. Initially, they were to return to their original museums, in Russia and Ukraine, after February 22, but the war complicates things. On March 15, the Russian ambassador to France, Alexeï Mechkov, had mentioned “logistical problems” concerning in particular transport, in view of the “drastic measures which have been taken” against Russia.
And if the foundation ensures that the works will be returned “from museum to museum” as soon as possible, the painting by Petr Aven could be seized, since it belongs to a private collector.
