More non-performing loans at DZ Hyp – Economy

At DZ Hyp, the central real estate financing provider within the DZ Bank Group, the volume of non-performing loans almost quadrupled last year. Nevertheless, the level of problem exposures remains relatively low. The volume of non-performing loans was 527 million euros at the end of 2023, compared to 114 million euros a year earlier, according to the annual report published on Tuesday. The figures refer to a total loan volume of almost 81 billion euros. Just over half of this came from commercial real estate financing last year. DZ Hyp also counts private customers and the public sector among its customers. The real estate markets have found themselves in difficult waters in the past two years due to the sharp rise in interest rates. Financing has become more expensive, which has put pressure on prices and valuations. This also contributed to the collapse of the Signa real estate group. In this case, DZ Hyp’s commitment amounts to a high double-digit million amount, as Bloomberg reported.
