Munich is currently experiencing a new start-up period – in the middle of the pandemic. More money flowed into start-ups last year than ever before: venture capitalists invested 4.7 billion euros in young companies from Munich and the surrounding area – almost four times as much as in 2020. And also the previous record year 2019, in which the Munich start-ups were able to collect a total of 1.8 billion euros was exceeded, according to figures from “Munich Startup”, an official city portal for Munich and the region.
