The option of getting sick leave over the phone for mild respiratory illnesses ends at the end of March. The special regulation was introduced to protect against the spread of the corona virus. Chains of infection were broken, doctor’s offices relieved.
According to the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, “Are employees subject to a public-law obligation to isolate themselves or is there a public-law recommendation to isolate themselves?” From April 1st continue to use the telephone sick note. Patients can then receive a sick leave of up to seven days after a telephone consultation. After that, a one-off extension by a further seven days is possible in the same procedure, “but at the longest until the end of the period of public law obligation or recommendation for isolation,” according to the Joint Federal Committee of Statutory Health Insurance. This could become necessary if there were a new containment regulation in the future or if the health department were to impose isolation.
