Montpellier broke a record for sunshine this summer

Heat, drought, tropical nights, etc. It was the summer of all records in Languedoc. One more: according to Météo France, the city of Montpellier (Hérault) broke its sunshine record this summer. The sun shone for 1,070 hours and sixteen minutes.

This is a record since 1991, the year the sensors were put into service, indicates Météo France, on Twitter. The last sunshine record dated from the summer of 2015: Météo France recorded 1,059 hours and twenty-four minutes of sunshine that year.

In the former Languedoc-Roussillon, another city broke its sunshine record: Carcassonne (Aude). The capital of Aude experienced 930 hours and fifty minutes of sunshine this summer. The last record was from 2018: 919 hours and fifty-seven minutes.
