Monopoly Commission calls for the rail economy to be split up

It was the social-liberal government under Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt that set up a new body in 1973: The Monopolies Commission has been advising the Federal Government on competition and regulation issues for almost 50 years. The body with the somewhat cumbersome name is something like the competitive conscience – and in this sense Jürgen Kühling also formulates his wishes for a new possible federal government made up of the SPD, FDP and the Greens. You should “dare to compete more,” says the law professor from Regensburg Southgerman newspaper. Kühling has been chairman of the Monopolies Commission since September 2020. Specifically, he proposes to a traffic light coalition to smash Deutsche Bahn and sell the blocks of shares to Post and Telekom.
