Monopoly: Almost everyone makes these mistakes in the board game

Watch the video: How to play the popular board game Monopoly correctly.

Monopoly is a well-known board game – but the exact set of rules is apparently less well known. These mistakes are made by many players: You can only buy a road if the character is standing on it. Not correct! According to the game instructions, only one of the players has to stand on the street with his character. If he doesn’t want to buy it himself, the bank will auction it off. All players may bid. By the way: This rule also applies to train stations. Anyone who lands on “free parking” receives the penalty money from the middle of the field. Not correct! According to the game instructions, “nothing happens” if a pawn is on this field. Anyone who lands on the “Income Tax” or “Additional Tax” field pays the money to the bank. During the first round of the game, no roads and stations may be bought. Not correct! This “zero round” is not mentioned in the game manual. Curious: Some of these mistakes are so widespread that the instructions for the game even refer to them explicitly on the last page.
