Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner does not expect rapid success in the fight against money laundering. The FDP chairman announced on Wednesday in Berlin that he wanted to significantly change the structure so that Germany would no longer be a paradise for criminals. “In Germany we take great care of the small fish in financial crime, but the big fish swim away from us.” Lindner therefore wants to centralize the fragmented administrative structure and set up a Federal Criminal Police Office. By when this should be implemented, however, he did not want to say specifically – during the term of office of the traffic light coalition, he only said. This will last until the end of 2025. Lindner not only has to find support for his concept from the SPD and Greens within the traffic lights, but also in the federal states, which are responsible for many authorities.
