During the Monegasque royal family’s visit to Hamburg, the nine-year-old twins Gabriella and Jacques were particularly enthusiastic.

The Monegasque one The royal family paid a visit to Hamburg today, April 25th. Prince Albert II (66) and his wife, Princess Charlène (46), brought their two children, the twins Jacques and Gabriella (9), with them to the opening of the Monaco section in the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt. Like their parents, the nine-year-olds were enthusiastic about the detailed miniature replica of their homeland.

The four-member royal family reached Hamburg by private jet in the midday hours. They moved into the presidential suite for the day in the five-star hotel “Vier Saisons”, as the “Bild” newspaper reported. In the late afternoon we went to the opening ceremony at Miniatur Wunderland. Princess Charlène chose a long, cream-white coat for her visit to the world’s largest model railway complex. She paired it with a black scarf.

When they arrived in the Speicherstadt, the twins Jacques and Gabriella in particular seemed thrilled by the miniature version of their hometown. The Monegasque Prince’s Palace, the harbor with luxurious yachts and the casino are recreated on 36 square meters.

The highlight, however, is probably the meticulously recreated Formula 1 track, which is also fully functional. The royal couple then started the first race of four miniature racing cars using the buzzer. Gabriella and Jacques, on the other hand, were allowed to drive a small ship at the push of a button – and fought for the right to press the buzzer.

Charlene and Albert are supposed to end the day in Hamburg in the evening with a party with invited guests in the Speicherstadt Museum. In the evening we will return to the real Monaco by private jet. According to media reports, there are no plans to spend the night in the Hanseatic city.
