Prince Harry visited the UK twice last year, not at all this time. Now a visit to his grandmother is announced.

Prince Harry wants to visit his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II in the UK in the near future, but will not be present at a memorial service for Prince Philip planned for the end of March. This was announced by a spokesman for the 37-year-old.

The service on March 29 is intended to give a broader public the opportunity to remember the Queen’s husband, who died last year at the age of 99 and whose funeral service had to be held on a small scale due to the corona restrictions that were still in force at the time.

It has been suggested that Harry and his family could use the occasion to travel to the UK. Most of the royal family has yet to meet Harry and Meghan’s second child, little Lilibet. However, Harry is currently fighting a legal battle with the UK Home Office over police protection in the UK. He argues that he and his family will not get the same level of police protection as they used to if they visit their old homeland. Therefore, a visit is too unsafe. The Ministry of the Interior rejected the prince’s offer to pay for what he believed to be the necessary protection for the police.

In the past year – the first year since his retirement from royal family – Harry has visited the UK twice, both times without his family. He attended his grandfather’s funeral service and, together with his brother Prince William, unveiled a statue in honor of their mother Princess Diana, who died in 1997. When the next visit is due and whether Harry will take part in the celebrations for the Queen’s 70th throne jubilee is open.
