That was close!
Camera footage shows a girl being dragged into the sea by the incoming tide on a pier in Devon, England. The young woman and her young companions had stayed there in the immediate vicinity of the water.
The force of the waves takes hold of the girl first. She tries to hold on to the railing, but the waves are too strong.
Passers-by immediately rush to her aid: a man runs into the water and holds the girl while another person throws a lifebelt.
Georgina Carlo-Paat, the local harbor master, then warned against risky behavior in the port to “YahooNews”: “The young people were not only lucky that they were not seriously injured, but also put their own lives and those around them in danger who reacted quickly when they got into trouble.”
Fortunately, according to the harbor master, rescue workers were nearby at the time of the incident, who were able to respond quickly and tend to the youngsters’ injuries before escorting everyone home.
