After the emergency call, the police cordoned off the area and searched the school, including officers from a special operations team. “It is a very large school that needs to be searched. Accordingly, it could take quite a while,” a police spokeswoman told the “Lübecker Nachrichten”. According to police, the students had locked themselves in the classrooms and should be brought to safety as quickly as possible.

In the afternoon the operation at and in the vocational training center was over. “The search did not lead to the arrest of a suspect,” police said. “After searching the individual building complexes, the students were gradually able to leave the building and were questioned by the police.” The criminal police’s investigations should continue.

The city administration had set up a meeting point for parents in the town hall. The Herzogtum-Lauenburg district administration asked them not to drive to the school grounds.

According to the company’s own information, around 3,500 trainees in more than 50 professions attend the vocational training center in the city of 20,000, and 1,500 were affected by the operation, it said.
