1. FC Köln celebrates victory in the test kick at Siegburger SV

The youngster usually plays for Stefan Ruthenbeck’s (49) A-Juniors in the U19 Bundesliga, where he has a decent quota with five goals in ten games. In Siegburg, the 1.92 meter Schlaks was allowed to play in the first half and promptly scored three times (12th/24th/42nd).

FC coach Steffen Baumgart (50) tested a number of young talents and later praised: “I haven’t seen anyone who played badly. If the boys draw attention to themselves in terms of performance in a game like this and don’t fall behind, then they do well.”

There was goal doping for Mark Uth (30), who was recently unlucky in the league. The ex-Schalke scored twice (10th/44th). Luca Kilian (22) had a lot of fun, scored his first goal for FC (18th) and then started a long run of celebrations.

Jonas Hector scores for 1. FC Köln as a striker

While the around 4000 spectators only saw Modeste, Sebastian Andersson (30) and number one Marvin Schwäbe (26) on the Cologne bench, captain Jonas Hector (31) celebrated his comeback after corona quarantine in the final phase.

And in an unusual position: Baumgart brought Hector as a striker. Can the Saarlander too! After Ouadi Barini’s consolation goal to make it 1:6 (65th), Hector increased it to 7:1 (70th). The final score was marked by talent Winzent Suchanek (18) – a befitting 8:1 (82nd).

Baumgart’s conclusion: “The boys played well. We were aggressive, won a lot of balls and had many chances. It is normal that not everything goes in.”

Now the FC pros can look forward to a mini vacation, Baumgart is giving his team Thursday to Sunday off. Preparations for the away game at Union Berlin (Friday, April 1, 8:30 p.m.) begin at Geißbockheim on Monday afternoon.

Then again with Modeste and Andersson! Baumgart’s all-clear: “We looked at Tony’s problems – all good. It wasn’t about risk today, it just wasn’t necessary. Same with Seb. You will be there as usual on Monday.”
