The Berlin e-scooter rental company Tier Mobility is taking over the Leipzig rental bike provider Nextbike. The merged company will become the largest rental company of bicycles and e-scooters in Europe, the companies announced on Monday. In the future, the company will be represented in over 400 cities with a fleet of more than 250,000 bicycles, e-scooters, e-bikes and e-mopeds. Tier and Nextbike did not want to comment on the purchase price. The acquisition of Nextbike is a unique opportunity, said Tier founder and co-boss Lawrence Leuschner. Tier had recently raised $ 200 million from financiers and raised its valuation to $ 2 billion. Tier had announced that the Berlin company would use the fresh money to advance its expansion and make acquisitions.
