Laptop with a transparent screen is intended to help creative people
Anyone who looks at their laptop wants to see what is on the screen. A manufacturer is now relying on glass and making it possible for you to see what’s behind it.
The Chinese company presented the device to the public as a prototype at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Lenovo speaks of a new interaction and creation experience. In addition to the glass screen, the laptop has a surface that can be used as a keyboard or digital drawing board.
The device is intended, for example, to make the work of designers easier when they are sitting at a laptop and designing products with a special pen – they can be inspired by objects that can be seen behind the screen and whose contours they adopt. Another conceivable area of application is travel agencies or hotel reception areas, where laptop screens are sometimes perceived as a disruptive barrier between employees and customers. You can also set the screen so that not everyone who walks by can see what you are doing.
It is unclear whether the device will ever come onto the market. So far it is only a “proof of concept” – proof that it is technically possible. The idea of transparency is not new in the electronics industry: LG has developed a television that is also transparent.
