Mobile photo studio by artist JR in Munich – Munich

Looking at photos of the 70-meter-long panorama in San Francisco, it becomes clear that one can look for quite a while without getting enough. French photographer and street artist JR’s black and white mural mimics the scale of his previous projects. Poster campaigns on skyscrapers in New York, favelas in Rio de Janeiro or the wall in the Gaza Strip have shown time and again that JR does not want to send art for a few, but rather clearly visible messages for everyone. The panorama in San Francisco shows people who JR photographed with his mobile photo truck and put together in the impressive collage. It is ordinary people who inspire the artist and find space in his work. For the exhibition “JR: Chronicles” in the Kunsthalle Munich, the photo trucks come to different places in the city. People can have their picture taken and then examine their portraits along with countless other posters around the city. 445,000 people from almost 140 countries have already taken part in the “Inside Out” project.

Mobile photo studio, 9.-15. September, between 12 p.m. and 6/7 p.m., at MUCA, HP8 and 5 Höfe. More dates and locations below www.kunsthalle-muc.de
