Smallest museum in New York opens season with mini-opera
Small museum, mini-opera and great art: The “Mmuseumm” is located in a backyard alley in the hip district of Tribeca. And it rained confetti too.
Probably the smallest museum in New York opened this year’s exhibition season with confetti and a mini-opera. Hundreds of people crowded into a narrow backyard alley in the trendy Tribeca district on Thursday evening (local time), where the “Mmuseumm”, founded in 2012, is housed in a former elevator shaft, not much larger than a wardrobe.
A man sang a mini-opera from a small car, confetti rained down from the fire escapes of the houses around it. On display in the museum are mini works of art and objects from everyday life – such as mobile phones, shampoo bottles or light bulbs, each with individual stories and context.
