A mountain guide was knocked down by a man on the Mittenwalder Höhenweg after helping a woman in need. According to the police, the incident happened when the mountain guide was traveling with a group of five. On the via ferrata, the 45-year-old met a woman on Saturday who seemed insecure and trembling.
To help her, he secured her to the rope with her own via ferrata set. However, the woman reacted in panic and cried out loud. It was also said that the mountain guide continued his tour with his group, but was followed by the woman’s male companion.
After about 30 minutes, he caught up with the mountain guide at a steep drop and hit him in the face with his head and fist. The mountain guide briefly lost consciousness, as witnesses reported, according to the police. He suffered a fractured maxillary sinus.
The attacker and his companion then left the scene. Despite an immediate search with numerous police forces, the couple could no longer be found.
