Missile alarm in Tel Aviv: Olaf Scholz and delegation on the runway – politics

The Chancellor is sitting on a government plane in Tel Aviv when there is a rocket attack. Olaf Scholz is brought out and the delegation is on the tarmac. Scenes of a dangerous journey.

On the way to Tel Aviv airport, the Chancellor makes a stop at Dizengoff Square, named after the city’s first mayor. Olaf Scholz lights a candle, hundreds light up here and are reflected in the water of the fountain. There were around 1,400 deaths on the Israeli side as a result of the Hamas massacres on October 7th, but also around 3,000 in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli air strikes. Scholz had previously urgently warned Hezbollah at a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that it would be an “unforgivable mistake” to enter this war.
