” From dominican friars of the Province of Toulouse were accused of serious acts of a sexual nature against minors, facts which have unfortunately been confirmed”. It is in these terms that Brother Olivier de Saint Martin, the prior provincial of the order, and Antoine Garapon, the president of the Reparation Recognition Commission (CRR), reveal in a statement dated May 4 a new case of sexual abuse in the Church. Without mentioning for the time being either the places or the dates of these acts.
“It is our duty to ensure that there are no other victims,” they continue. These possible abused young people could have frequented all the Dominican convents in the province, that of Toulouse, but also of Bordeaux Montpellier, Marseille, Sainte-Baume (Bouches-du-Rhône) and Nice.
The two signatories invite anyone “having been aware of reprehensible acts committed by a Dominican brother from the province of Toulouse” to report them, either by writing to [email protected] or by contacting the CRR directly (victimes@crr. contact or on 09 73 88 25 71).
In addition, two members of the commission will come to Toulouse to meet and listen to any witnesses or victims.
