Minimum wage in nursing rises slightly

As of: December 1st, 2023 10:25 a.m

As of today, nursing staff who receive the minimum wage will receive more money: their earnings will increase by 25 to 60 cents per hour, depending on their qualifications. Wages then rise more significantly in May.

The approximately 1.3 million employees in facilities with a minimum wage for care will receive more money from today. According to the Ministry of Health, nursing assistants now receive 14.15 euros instead of 13.90 euros, qualified nursing assistants receive 15.25 euros (previously 14.90 euros), and the minimum wage for nursing staff increases to 18.25 euros (previously 17.65 euros). .

Another increase in May

From May 1st, the minimum wage for nursing care will continue to rise – to between 16.10 euros and 20.50 euros per hour, depending on the qualification level of the employees. The responsible nursing commission agreed on this in the summer. It is made up of equal numbers of employer and employee representatives. However, qualified nursing specialists usually earn significantly more than the nursing minimum wage.

The nursing industry suffers from a shortage of staff. That is why skilled workers are specifically recruited from abroad, for example from India. Nevertheless, many institutions have major problems filling positions – which can mean existential problems for some.
