Mindelheim: Father is said to have killed baby – Bavaria

After parents in Swabia found their six-month-old daughter dead in her crib, investigators’ suspicions are directed against the 42-year-old father. The Memmingen district court issued an arrest warrant on Wednesday on suspicion of manslaughter, the police announced on Thursday.

Accordingly, the daughter was found dead in Mindelheim (Unterallgäu district) on Sunday two weeks ago. An autopsy revealed that the infant died from severe brain injuries, most likely caused by external force in the form of violent shaking.

Initially, suspicion was directed against the 32-year-old mother and father. Because the suspicion against the 42-year-old was confirmed, investigators arrested the man on Tuesday and brought him before a judge. He is in custody and has not initially commented on the accusation. The investigation into how the child’s serious injuries occurred and to what extent both parents were involved is ongoing, it said. According to the information, another child of the parents was taken to a foster family as a precautionary measure in cooperation with the youth welfare office.
