18 pounds less: This is how she fought weight gain after trauma

Mimi Fiedler tells her fans that after she beat her alcohol addiction, she “really” gained weight. The way to your current desired weight was more complex than expected.

Mimi Fiedler (47) is known for not mincing her words. Even on issues that hurt. Shock. be hushed up. In her book “Trinkerbelle” Mimi describes in harrowing words how she was repeatedly abused by a man as a girl. The perpetrator: no stranger. His threat: if she says even one last word, something terrible will happen. The result: Mimi was silent. for years. And numbed her pain with alcohol. Much alcohol.

Mimi Fiedler: “I only really started to gain weight when I got sober”

She started drinking when she was 14 and fell into alcohol addiction, from which she had no escape for a long time. Today she is dry. “I’ve been dry for almost five years now and I’m very happy about it, but I still don’t know why I suddenly did it,” the actress told BUNTE magazine a few weeks ago. “I’ve known since 2010 that I’m an alcoholic, and yet I’ve had to keep drinking for eight more years, despite going regularly to Alcoholics Anonymous and frantically searching every corner for a solution.” And when the alcohol was gone, she looked for a replacement. Eat. “I only really started to gain weight when I got sober. My brain just didn’t realize that the good tranquilizer was gone and needed a replacement,” she now describes on Instagram.

Mimi also posts two photos. She is easily recognizable in both, and yet something is noticeable that she herself puts it as follows: “There are 16 months and 18 kilos less body weight” between the two photos. Then Mimi describes how rocky the road to her current figure was.

This is how Mimi Fiedler lost 18 kilos

“Pretty quickly I figured out that it wasn’t hardcore cellulite from gaining weight, but first-degree lipedema. I had treatment in 2019, after which it first got better, then worse again. Because I didn’t radically change my habits . Just as it was recommended to me,” the 47-year-old recalls. Only with an Ayurveda cure in Sri Lanka in January 2022 would it have really clicked. Because like the alcohol addiction, her weight gain had to do with her trauma.

“During an Ayurveda cure in Sri Lanka in January 22, the doctor explained to me that traumatic experiences can misdirect the metabolism, so that the cells store acidic water and the pain cannot escape. The legs stand for stability. Water stands for tears that cannot be cried and the hyperacidity for suppressed anger,” says Mimi. “He detoxed me and told me to be angry. Every day if I have to.” And she was angry – “very, very angry”. Also on the fact that she has to discipline herself and do sports. Today she does sport every day, although she “deeply despises it from the inside”. In addition, since January 2022, she would eat from 1 p.m. at the earliest, only rarely before that. “I’m fasting. It works.” But that’s not all.

Mimi Fiedler makes it clear: It’s not about body shapes, it’s about ballast

“Another doctor then explained to me that my brain needs Gaba. And I’ve been taking it for a year, in high doses.” Incidentally, Gaba is also referred to as gamma-aminobutyric acid in the language area and is said to influence emotional stability, among other things. “There is a lot to discover in the trauma field. Everything is connected. I think we have a lot more control than we think,” Mimi concludes her post and adds: “It’s not about pounds on the scales or body shapes, every person is individual and wonderful, just as that person wants to be. It’s all about ballast. And why the load is there. I just feel more vital, closer to me.”
