An armed man in a house kept the police on tenterhooks for around 34 hours. Then he is found dead. It remains unclear whether he was shot or killed himself.

After the death of an armed man during a large-scale operation in the municipality of Milower Land in Brandenburg, the Police found numerous dangerous items on the site. What exactly this was about was not initially known. The police had previously announced that they had found several weapons, including a hand grenade, as they approached the building on Saturday evening.

According to its own information, the Potsdam public prosecutor’s office has initiated a death investigation to find out how the suspect died. It was still unclear on Sunday whether he was shot by emergency services or killed himself. An autopsy is expected to provide more information this Sunday.

The man barricaded himself in a house in the district of Vieritz in the Havelland district for over 34 hours from Friday afternoon. During this time he also shot several times from the house at the emergency services. In the evening the police managed to get into the building. After another few hours, she found the suspect lifeless in the attic of the house around 12:30 a.m. An emergency doctor pronounced death.

Initially there was also a child, his mother and another man in the building. The second man was arrested on Friday evening and the mother and child were brought to safety on Saturday night. The reason for the large-scale operation was the suspicion of endangering the welfare of children. The police provided administrative assistance to the youth welfare office following a corresponding decision from the district court. A large contingent was on duty for hours, and special forces were also on site.
