Her famous “Bangerz” tour wowed the crowds in 2014. But Miley Cyrus didn’t earn anything from the concerts because the equipment ate up all the income, as she now says.

Miley Cyrus may not turn 31 until November, but the singer has seen more than most in her entire life. She had her first roles as a child, and at the age of twelve she became a star with the series “Hannah Montana”. After that, she began a music career.

Now pulls Miley Cyrus a kind of interim balance: In her new song “Used To Be Young” from the album “Endless Summer Vacation” released in spring, she looks back on her life, especially on her turbulent youth. The song is flanked by a series on TikTok that bears the same name. There, Cyrus reviews episodes from her career so far in short videos.

Miley Cyrus views Bangerz tour as an investment in herself

Recently she was busy there with her tour for the album “Bangerz”, which took her through the USA, Europe and Australia in 2014. The tour lasted more than eight months – from February to October – and included a total of 78 concerts. Live recordings were broadcast on US television and released on DVD. Critics and fans were equally enthusiastic and the effort should have been worth it financially: the shows brought in more than 60 million US dollars.

But appearances are deceptive, as Miley Cyrus revealed: she didn’t earn anything on the tour. The expenses were so high that they could not be recovered. “I didn’t earn a cent from this tour because I wanted it to be excellent,” said the 30-year-old. She has no regrets, even nine years later. The tour was “an investment in myself,” she clarified.

Cyrus doesn’t feel like starting a new tour

Miley Cyrus put a lot of effort into her shows, legendary the part of the performances in which she slipped onto the stage from her own face using an oversized tongue. “A lot of these ideas were so outlandish that no one really wanted to support me,” the pop star reported now. So she had to pay for the unusual stage design and the props – for example a huge hot dog on which she flew through the air – out of her own pocket.

“There’s nothing I’d rather invest in than myself,” Cyrus clarifies. “That’s why I paid for all of this – to do it exactly as I and the fans deserved.” In retrospect, the expenses certainly did not harm her. However, currently no need to go on tour again, as she has affirmed several times – recently again on TikTok: “There is a certain need to show the ego and play a role in it and I feel that it is on Touring is overused and once that switch is flipped it’s hard to get it back,” she said. “If you feed your ego every night to keep it active, it’s almost impossible to get off it.”
